Intriguing and fast paced, a compelling thriller with complex characters.

Evie is a ward of the state, Cyrus is the psychologist called to evaluate Evie and determine whether she can live on her own. Both characters have dark pasts which are carefully developed and revealed by the author. There is a murder to be solved and Cyrus is assisting the police with the investigation, at the same time Evie has certain abilities that might be valuable.

I was engaged by the story and enjoyed the dynamics between Evie and Cyrus. Found out there will be more books after this one with the same characters so I look forward to continuing the series.
