An intense and captivating portrait of the rise of a rock band in the 1970s.

The novel is narrated in the form of interviews and transcripts made to the band members as well as people close or related to them. The characters are complex and the voices are so distinctive and compelling that I found myself googling whether this had been a real band (the answer is no, this is a fictional music band).

The author did an extraordinary job developing these characters as well as the songs and their backstories in the novel (sadly, the songs are also fictional, I was so impressed I googled the songs as well).

Overall, an excellent novel. It will be adapted into a TV series which I’m looking forward to watching.
